Koi Carp
A Koi Carp’s immune system find's it difficult to function during the winter months when the temperature drops in an unheated Koi pool. When the temperature falls below 4 degrees the the Koi’s immune system will start to shut down making it very difficult for the fish to fight off infections and parasites who become active as and when temperatures rise in Spring.
Not all Koi enthusiasts feel the need to heat their pool, after all wild carp live through cold winter's and warm summer's. Rather than heating your pool you can use an overwintering technique adopted by quite a few of our Koi keeper customers, which is to cover your pool with a winter cover.
Cost Effective Winter Koi Pool Cover - Polycarbonate Sheet
At Nick Gray we have been supplying polycarbonate sheet to Koi keepers who have been using our product to build their own custom winter cover's. Our polycarbonate sheet is an excellent insulator and can help by maintaining a temperature of 6C over the temperature of an uncovered pool. Our cost effective polycarbonate is a well constructed rigid material, which helps when you are trying to span a large pool, it keeps winter debris such as leaves away and keeps snow and ice away from the water.
